trishlaplaca Boy, are we ever thrilled to be back on the water again! It sure has been a long and arduous couple of months getting Oyster ship-shape, that’s for sure. After laying coat after coat of varnishing to the point where my hands and body screamed in pain – to Jeff’s updating every system to top form (which lamentably included having to deal with a leaking toilet tank (SOOO DISGUSTING!) – Oyster is as ready for her new adventure as we are. We’re actually secretly convinced that if she could talk right now she might even thank us for her renewed life and for our loving her so much ;-)!
Anyway, “splash down” day was Thursday, June 13th, our lucky number. All went really well, but we chose instead to set off on Saturday because we had to have all systems double-checked by the marina on Friday and also avoid a rainy day start.
Much to our delight, my sister Lois and brother-in-law Dan were able to join us for our “Bon Voyage” cruise down the Connecticut River – no better way to kick it all off! We were able to experience the amazing East Haddam Swing Bridge together, dine on the flybridge, have a railroad bridge opened for us to venture through, and finally enjoy our very first Happy Hour of season 2024. What could be better?
