Hooray! It's Round 2 of our "America's Great Loop" adventure! Jeff and I are beyond excited!
Last summer 2023, we two newbie sailors dared ourselves to embark on a large section of the Loop named "The Triangle Loop". We travailed up the Hudson River to the Erie Canal, through Lake Ontario to the St. Lawrence Seaway and Canada's Rideau Canal, and then all the way back to Connecticut via the Lake Champlain route. The voyage surely tested our mettle at times, but the experiences and people we were blessed to encounter along the way made it truly magical.
Now take a peek at our basic itinerary this year: We'll head up the Erie and Oswego, NY canals once again to cross Lake Ontario, but this time will head west into Canada's Trent-Severn Canal, Georgian Bay, and North Channel. We'll then loop around to head south on Lake Michigan, through Chicago into the Illinois and Mississippi rivers and on through other inner river systems of the country. The goal is to arrive all the way down to our home in Florida!
If you haven't had the chance, you might want to check out some of the older posts to get a better feel for what's in store for us. Please join us for this year's passages. It's wonderful to have you along for the ride!
