trishlaplaca I know. I KNOW. I’ve been absolutely terrible at keeping you all apprised of what’s going on aboard Oyster this summer. The truth is, an entire month has been totally erased. Poor June and July!
As you can see by this new video, we headed north from the DeFever Cruisers Rendezvous in Fernandina Beach in Florida and spent a fantastic time visiting dear friends in South Carolina and Virginia before getting to the Chesapeake Bay.
It’s funny – you would think that after traveling through the Chesapeake several times before, it would all have become “ho-hum” for us. But this time we did it right. This time we didn’t just pass right through quickly. We became TOURISTS. We journeyed up the Potomac River to Mount Vernon and on to Washington, DC. We then came back down into the Chesapeake, and up the Severn River to Annapolis. Talk about history lessons!
We then cruised back up to New York harbor and on to Connecticut where we decided to pull Oyster out at our favorite marina Petzold’s again. Don’t worry – Oyster was fine – but she sure needed a new head (toilet) that wouldn’t keep driving Jeff crazy 🤪! Jeff also painted her bottom and I helped to spruce her up by varnishing her rails. By July 22 Oyster was all gussied up to set out once again!

Jeff and I are both from the area and yet once again, we’re happy not to take such amazing local learning resources for granted once again. Geesh!
